Solar Systems

Solar energy is the energy from the sun in the form of heat and light. The amount of energy that reaches the earth, is appr. 9000 times bigger than the energyneed of all 6,5 billion earthlings combined. The energy reaches earth as light and heat. One talks about solar energy when the technology is used for generating energy directly from sunlight.

This is done primarly by solar water heaters that, via solar collectors, change sunlight into heat. Another way is by using solarpanels with so-called photovoltaic cells (PV-cells), which directly convert light into electricity: solarpower. Solarpanels, fitted with a great amount of PV-cells, convert light into electricity. When sunlight reaches the PV-cells, electricity can directly and indirectly be generated. When installed in a way that it gets the maximum amount of sunlight, the solarpanels can be used rightaway. An installation stores the excess of electricity that is generated on the Net. In the evening, night or on dark days this electricity can be purchased.

We’ve applied this technique for quite some time in greenhousebuilding in the southern countries of Europe. When used in greenhouses the solarcells are being protected by glass plate on one side and waterproof plastic film on the other side. For growers it’s an ideal way of taking advantage of the warm climate and grow in a cost-effective way.
